what was the deal with this guitar? as well as the fender reissues?
thanks. anyone else?
He threw the bits and pieces into the audience. Who has them?
he lit it on fire and then it was history
EMP has some pieces of it.
What's your question? Other than, "what's the deal"?
It was a '67 Stratocaster.
Right-handed, with a flipped nut.
Jimi painted it, much of it with nail polish.
He "sacrificed" it at Monterey Pop.
It was burned, smashed, & tossed into the crowd.
While most of it is lost to history, the EMP in Seattle has part of the guitar.
No it was a fiesta red 1965 strat. A 67 would have the bigger headstock
thanks guys. thats exactly the info i was looking for.
what about the reissues. fender did XXX reisues in XXX year. all painted by. etc etc. Just looking for a good general history of the guitar and what came after it.
did this person have anything to do with the reissues?
I think they built like 210 of them...I know John Mayer has one and Kenny Wayne Shepard....If you ever come across the site sacrificeguitars.com dont buy their monterey strat for 300 dollars....it's complete utter ****!
And yes that artist did the reissues
Vai made his own replica:
The reissues that Fender made though not historically dead on accurate are one of the coolest and most desirable Strats out there!
