whats the best way to do it? if i put it first then it does not get to heavy when i go from clean to overdrive (stays consistent).if i put it last the its cool on clean but way too much delay on over drive.yet i have seen peple do it both ways?whats best?

Does your amp have an effects loop?

If not, then delay won't really work for distortion from your amp.

For non-FX loop amps you will need to run the clean with pedals for overdrive.

    Hope this helps.

Run the delay in the effects loop, or if you don't have one, put it after the OD.

Delay should be last in the line, ie last pedal into your amp.

Anyway thats what my son told me when I rang him from our gig last night, as I was trying out my new Catmods Deeelay, and it certainly sounded good in that order both clean & with overdrive. :)

    Comp>OD>Delay>Amp

You can also try the Comp after your OD...some like that better.

If you plan on using a Volume Pedal:

-1st in chain if used to control the amount of level going into your OD
-Place after OD and before Delay if used for volume/delay swells etc.

I do not put delay last as I use a boost pedal to slam front end of amp to get good sound at all volume levels. So my delay (analog Boss DM-2) is before Barber Launch Pad but after all other pedals.

Did a gig last night like that and sounded so gooood. Rehearsal today was also so goood (manager said best sound yet!).

    Cool!
