Historic Gibson Les Paul v Nik Huber Orca ?

posted the clip of the orca for you to see how it looks

anybody able to comment on this one ? im thinking huber = smaller company and possibly more attention to build quality with none of the build quirks that a lot of historic gibsons come with, fret marks, color, bleed, shitty nut etc etc. because my sweat composition turns nitro to glue, poly is the only finish i can use , and the orca is a poly guitar.

it would be great if some replies came from orca owners or those who have played one.

Huber does have more attention to detail but the price tag is much higher. Ive never seen an orca under 3.5k whereas you can get really good Historics for 2200-2500 used. I'd also add that The Historics still sound thicker when I play in the bridge in OD. By comparison the orca is just a tad less aggressive. The orcas cleans are nicer though.

Bottom line, if they were the same cost I'd own one each. But I'll never be able to justify the money on an orca for the difference in detail. But yeah, if you can afford it...small builder every time.

You cant compare a Orca with a plaintop R8, which is 2,000-2,2000 used, indeed. You have to compare it with a R9, considering the woods used for an Orca, and Im not just talking about the multiple A maple top. Now show me where I can gat a R9 for 2K and Im with you...

I really like Nik's attention to detail and quality levels. If money's not an issue, the Orca's my choice.

As others have noted, the Orca is built with incredible skill and attention. Like Big Country, I think an Orca sounds just slightly more "polite" than a Les Paul (or mine does, anyway), but a pickup swap might change that. And a good boost pedal kind of takes care of that for me, anyway. If I *had* to have one or the other, money no object, I'd take the Orca.

Never played an Orca but they do look sweet.
Historics don't have shitty nuts anymore, by the way.
