Looking to have some fun editing and making creative art photos . What is the easiest/best program without a huge learning curve to buy?

I think any program will require some learning.
Elements would be fine for a casual user....obviously photoshop is a pro program. Photoshop does take quite a bit of time to learn.....but it is worth the effort. If you can find someone who knows the program... being shown how to get around the software will speed the process. There are plenty of resources online for learning. You could get an older version of photoshop on ebay. Good luck.

Pshop is complex for a reason, way more than what you need. A basic application should allow you to do a good job. Lightbox, or something like it, should be fine.
I am a Pshop pro.

I use PS CS5 and I agree with the previous posts about the learning curve but if you want the most control, it is THE ONE! Lightroom is ok and Elements would be the easiest to learn.

learn photoshop, i find it pretty damn intuitive to use. the others might be easier but if you want to do more advanced editing later, you have the tools to learn how. incredibly powerful program.

Are there differences between CS5 and lets say 10? |

The architecture is the same but with ALOT more bells and whistles.

lightroom's interface is pretty easy to learn. some of the more intensive editing features are easier and more precise in photoshop. lightroom doesn't give you layers.

A big difference would also be in what you might pay for an old
version vs the newest version. CS or CS 2 would be your best bet on a good price and you would still have some powerful software. The only bad thing about CS is that you wouldn't be able to upgrade to the newest version if you wanted to in the future.
