i thought you had to list your affiliations in your SIG?

is this no longer true?

can't find it in the terms of use or code of conduct. . . .

5. Spam sucks. Selling your own music gear or wanting to buy something is cool but is limited to the emporiums. Soliciting members via Private Message is spam. Spam in signatures is still spam. If it's not music gear, it's spam. Shilling becomes obvious and spammy. If we see it, we nuke it and we won't be happy with you.

i always assumed it was an "honor policy".

IF there were anyone here wishing to be discreet for any reason - i would think they have the right to do so.

of course, shilling a product is a little different.

There's a place to disclose but it doesn't show up in posts. Other forums (talkbass) it does. I think with the flip of a switch admins could make that field appear.

It used to be a big deal. I only have one affiliation (an endorsement) and I list that in my signature.

Unfortuenatly that sad devotion to that ancient company has not helped you conjure up the HD500 firmware schedule, or given you clarvoyance enough to find the hidden JTV update release date.

Good thing all that is a bonus and I like my JTV and HD 500 just fine the way they are thank you. (But I still want the update, oh yeah...)

It is a community enforced effort that I've always believed in and followed personally and expect others to also. It's a guideline, because as a rule we'd have to be able to enforce it and to be blunt it is impossible to enforce.

I believe in being honest, forthcoming and giving context. It is that reason that signature affiliation disclosure matters so much to me - it gives folks context from which to judge a given member's posts.

There are those that prefer to not have it in the signature and just add it into their profile; I do not think that is satisfactory personally. I will look into having the section in the profile made into something that shows up in each post as member information.

I thought entering it into the field titled "Company Affiliation Disclosure" would have handled it. If admins want it in the signature they should make it happen. Works fine here:
