Dunlop crybaby ??

I am not a pedal person recently started to use the crybaby on a few tunes. It has a large volume increase when I use it is that normal is that how all wahs & crybabys work. I'll be at an acceptable vol level step on the wah it becomes too loud. I wish would simply provide a wah 'effect' without increasing the volume ??????

I only use a tuner, maxon od808 - I had last in chain maybe it should be prior to maxon.. ??

just not a pedal/box person

Wah->Tuner->Maxon. Try that, see if it's better. Wah is usually placed first in chain.
