Just gotta post- excellent show. Got to give props to a local ATL band called Halcyon Way (I think that's right)- killer vocalist- seem to have a strong Fates Warning influence, sounded great even though the sound people didn't do them any favors- the guitar player was tearing it up, but I never heard him. Warbringer came on next- never heard them before, and I'm more of an old school guy- but they won me over- drumming and 2 insane shredders, vocalist was good and a great front man. Iced Earth was awesome, again sound guy was asleep and not bring the solo's up (and what's up with the snare sound- sorry, but I used to do sound on occasion and those things bug me), but the new vocalist is Matt Barlow and Ripper Owens in one vocally, with his own style to boot. Band was tight- Jon and Brent (drummer) together are a machine. To me, Troy is the best guitarist thats been in the band, and Freddie is a great bassist, and his backup vocals add a lot. Decent turn out for a Sunday night- glad I went. No gassing for anything, but I will be working on my right hand technique!
