LOL - you'd be surprised how many guys ask me that.

It's a Quik Lok BS-317BK Amp Stand flipped upside down. I'd not recommend using it live, it's not stable enough for the stage because I use it flipped upside down. For home use, it's fine.

Just picked one up myself...useful for many purposes.

Why turn it upside down? Wouldn't turning it around 180 degrees work as well?

It's not wide enough to fit the back of my rack well enough... the rack ends up just barely resting on the rubber ends, which are just pushed on. The bar across the top (when flipped up correctly) fits *inside* my SKB. It won't hold it securely, and I don't want the back of the rack inside to get slammed with that top support metal bar pushing in.

When you flip it over, the actual metal in the middle ends up resting on the back of the rack and it angles it higher up to face me better where I sit. Just trial and error, YMMV.

I'm 45, been playing semi-professionally since I was 14 and was taught to buy right, buy once and never second guess it. This gear is top end stuff; and you are right. it better sound good.

Luckily, I think it does.

To keep it in perspective, yes it's a lot of money but compared to, let's say, bass boats or full dress Harleys, it's a down payment on those toys.

Or even a Two Rock head and cab with a couple of boutique guitars.

Understood.

I'm interested because I'm building my first rack and will need some sort of stand. Mine will be a 6U so I'd have the same issues. I wanted to go 4U but I want a Line 6 G90 1U wireless receiver and I think I'm going to put in a 1U patch bay panel like many are now doing for an Ethercon connector for the MFC-101 and maybe some other connectors as well. 6U isn't that bad and the patch bay will give the power amp some breathing room as well.
