Is this a decent price for a VOS LP?
I have no clue when it comes to Gibsons.
Is this price in the ball park? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-1957-...item2eb681c7e6

Dave's Guitar shop in WI sells those used for $2499 all the time. So my answer would be no. Not a big fan of fleabay. There seems to be a lot of people like this guy who try to sell things for more than you would pay at a reputable shop.

Just an FYI - Rainbow Guitars is a great guitar shop in Tucson and they happen to have a stellar reputation. I've bought quite a few guitars/misc items from them over the years. For the OP, you might try calling them and making an offer on the guitar.

I would call Rainbow Guitars and get a deal struck through their store and not ebay.
You will get a better price. They would not have to pay ebay' seller fees and listing fees. I'm sure you can get it for $2400 or less. |

I second that. They are a real store, with a great stock. Look at their website, they may have something else that you like.

and thats why you don't buy your new Gibson from them. You just can't click away when buying a Gibson unless you have money to burn

Well Duh... I've bought over a dozen Historics over the years. A couple new from Saul when he was a dealer and the rest used. Saul always beat anyones price on new Historics. Some from Mark's Guitar Loft and several from here, ebay and the LPF. I'm just letting the OP know what current street price is for a brand new R7. Which is $3699. |

Maybe if you are buying it brand new, but... DON'T BUY IT NEW!! I've owned two R7's. Bought them both used, in mint condition, and didn't pay over 1800 bucks for either one. Got them both on ebay. Now, admittedly they weren't VOS, and this was a few years ago, BUT... even though the price of used R7's has gone up the last couple of years (I think a lot of people are realizing that the R7 offers the most bang for the buck, of any of the Historic Les Pauls), I still see them going for $2000 - $2200 on ebay. Even VOS models (even though I think VOS is a gimmick). So I'd just shop judiciously for a used one, and save yourself 500 or 600 bucks!
