'62 RI Tele MIJ saddle adjustments

Can anyone tell me the remedy of getting saddles back far enough to be remotely in tune? Height adjust. screws are hanging up on bridge body screws. Also have an AVRI '52 where this is not an issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

make sure the rest of the setup is right; if the action is too high from a bowed neck or high nut slots, it'll throw the intonation "artificially" sharp.

it's no crime for the saddle screws to sit on the plate screws.

tele

I haven't checked relief, but neck is not bowed. I play high action compared to most. What I'm looking at is, replacing the bridge screw with flat head screws to allow the saddle to travel over the screw head.
Thanks for input.
