And who says Sears sells only cheap guitars!

I was surprised when I came across this, and no I do not work for Sears.

Bizarrely, you can also get it from Amazon, for 1/2 the price:

Interesting that Sears came in so high. I wonder what the story is with this?

Not only that, but shipping is free on Amazon. Save not just $7K but an extra $24. What a deal!

It appears that Sears is re-listing items available at other retailers on their site - a lot of the more expensive guitars are listed as coming from Sweetwater for example. This particular LP is listed as coming from some place called "J. Moss Kingsley", which I've never heard of before. They don't appear to have their own website, but the address is in Burbank and the Sears Storefront for them has all kinds of different items listed, not just musical instruments.

Yeah, but if you use your Sears Card, you can earn points towards an Osterizer. ;-)

(OK, who remembers an Osterizer?)

Sears is just acting as a window for other sellers. Sort of like when Amazon offers products from 3rd party sellers as a choice in addition to their own. I would assume Sears and Amazon then get a small commission if the item sells through their site the way Ebay gets a commission. The problem with this is if you have a return, you have to deal with not the Sears return policy but instead the policy (if any) of whoever is really selling the item.
