Difference between AC booster and RC booster?
is one more open than the other?...are they both low to mid gain pedals?
I've been looking at the vids on the site but they just have me confused now- I'm leaning toward an AC to put in front of my Laney (not playing clean)...I need something to add a lttle hair with seperate bass/treble control- thanks |

AC Always has a little bit of grit even at the lowest setting. The RC does CLEAN.

I suggest watching the demo videos on the Prosound site. You'll be able to get a much better idea of what each pedal can do.

The RC doesn't really get all the way to what I would call a medium gain but it can give you more gain than most of the description you will read. I had all of the same questions that you have & ended up with both with the RC being first. The AC followed very soon after. The RC will give you a very good amp breaking up sound but not saturation. The AC is close to leaving off where the RC leaves off with the RC adding sparkle & more open than the C. The AC is darker with substaintially more gain than the RC. They also go well with each other. The AC has a lot of gain but doesn't get to much more than medium gain. My advice is buy the one yout hink you will liike the most first & then get the other. |

thanks bluesjuke- do you use them with a high-gain amp?....I keep hearing the RC "opens" up the sound...makes it "bigger"...does the AC do the same due to it's treble/bass eq?
I want something to just give a little hair to a Laney GH100L (high-gain, marshall-y...not Mesa-y) and "open up" what I get out of it- been experimenting and I have a powerblock for practice, I thow a Bad Monkey in front of it for more hair and a "bigger" sound due to it's high/low eq knobs.. so I tried it in front of the Laney and it's great but makes a terrible howl, even just as a boost with no gain....I like how I get a little extra hair and boost with it though- I'm wondering if I get a "better" pedal for that umpf I won't have that howling problem so I'm looking at the Xotics because they have the seperate bass/treble eq- I like the sound of the AC, does it do "bigger"?...but maybe the lower gain RC is enough with a bit of gain and it's rep for "opening up" your sound- |

Check out the Allen Hinds videos. I think he demos them about as well as you could. You should be able to tell exactly what pedal does what!

Actually that's not really what those mean. That's just an internet forum misnomer. Here's what Xotic says:
RC = Rig Conductor AC = Vox AC series amps BB = Blues Breaker |

Regardless of what they really stand for, the "fake" titles reflect the sound of the pedals.

Sounds like the RC will do what you want.
As I said it is an open sound- like your amp onkly more of it. It gives a nice sparkle and adds presence too. The active EQ on the Xotics work great for adding or subtracting bass and treble. The EQ knobs have a center detente where their effect is neutral. The amps I use are a Victoria Tweed Deluxe, Fender Bassbreakers, and a Blues Jr.. The Xotics work great with them & with my Bad Monkey & OCD. |
