Roland Cube 60 - hissing noise on decay?
My Cube 60 has this annoying hissing sound that starts each time I pluck a string. The hissing is not there when I'm not playing - the amp is completely silent then.
I thought it was the reverb - no. I turned off all the effects, it's still there. Actually, all I have to do is touch a string and you can hear it start. Is this some type of noisegate? If so why does a noisegate add noise? Thanks - I'm new to this board. |

The Roland cubes do have noise gates. I noticed it on both the Cube 30 and 60. I don't know why you'd get the hissing noise. Have you tried other sources/cables?

I thought I did something to mine when I got it home because I have the same noise. It's def. the noise gate, and you never hear it on a gig. Don't worry, just enjoy the amp, it's a little jewel.

Thanks Bikedude, I thought I was going nuts (or had hearing damage).
The sound is almost a shimmering - like a brush on a snare drum head. |

Basically it's as noisy as the guitar that is plugged into it is.
If that makes sense! Best, Pete.

Basically it's as noisy as the guitar that is plugged into it is. If you use a humbucking pick up guitar with reasonable shielding I doubt you would hear anything.
Best, Pete.
