1961 Guild Johnny Smith

This is the tone I love! Guilds are my favorites! Deeper than the Gibsons to my ear, while the Gibsons are sweeter.

Thanks for listening!

Tag your phrasing and the way you play altered notes over simple chords always blows me away. Nice stuff!! Oh..great axe too.

Tag,
I just listened to the Johnny Smith clip.. I do like the Guild a tiny bet better, it is fuller.. although the high end on the Johnny smith is a tad more pure..How do they sound plugged in?

Tag,

Sounds f-ing great! Can't decide which tone I like best. I guess the Guild sounds a little more broken in. Like the wood breaths a little more or it's got more hours played if that makes any sense. Seriously killer tone's!

Hey thanks for listening you guys, ALWAYS appreciated, you know that. Really glad some are liking my playing too! Everyone around here things I stink, including my parents.

Yea Scott, I have over 50 clips of yours I listen to all of the time. This is BUT the beginning. MUWHAHAHAHAHA!!! (Consider that flattery)

Cali.... Yea the Guild sounds "looser", but I think thats just part of the Guild tone. In person, they just have a "deepness" to the sound. You can hear it on the old Benson recordings when he was using them too. The Gibson is smoother and "prettier", while the Guild has attitude. I am VERY lucky to be able to have both.

Ill do some electric ones asap. They sound TOTALLY different when plugged in. That big fat archtop tone really comes through, and the Guild with the Dearmond is something else!
