How about a definitive H/S/S thread?

OK, we have many threads where people discuss differnet ways to wire a H/S/S guitar. I have not been able to find any though with a schematic that would work for me.

I have Lollars in my Strat and standard wiring with 250k pots. It sounds great. Occasionally I drop a Hot Rails stacked humbucker in the bridge position so I can cover a greater range of material with the one guitar. I always end up taking the HB out because it is too muddy with the 250k pots. I would like to use the humbucker in the bridge position but have the tone of the neck & middle single coils remain unaltered.

People have mentioned adding a 500k pot & resistors in other threads but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this without a schematic. Does anyone have a schematic or "H/S/S for Dummies" instructions I might use?

Let me start this with a schematic that a TGP'er was nice enough to send me. It's a single vol. / single tone setup. If anyone has one for a vol/tone/tone / 5-way switch Strat setup that would be great.

-250k tone pot = Positions 2-5
-500k tone pot = Position 1
-500k volume pot = All positions (does a resistor make the singles see 250k?)

I have this diagram from Suhr, but I would like to leave out the auto-split in position 2 for the humbucker.

What changes to the wiring will that need? I assume just leaving the red/white leads from the humbucker would do it, but is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks!

Awesome thread. I have a Benson HSS, with master volume, master tone, and a bridge pup engage switch.

What kind of switch is that you have on the schematic?

Anyone tried this?

I've been thinking about trying it on a strat rebuild I am doing right now, I bet I would still only end up with 5 sounds I liked, but I might like em better than the 5 standards.

On second look, the All Parts Mega Switch (http://www.allparts.com/store/electr...00,Product.asp) is slightly different. Does anyone know if any changes need to be made with the HSS diagram if using a Fender Super Switch?

The 4-pole-5-way mega switch all work the same way.

From both links I see, they are the same switch.

Each pole has 1 common wiper lug and 5 independent lugs.

EDIT: Nevermind. They are the same switch. I was confused, but I figured it out. Thanks, RvChevron.
