What is the tube order in an Ampeg Gemini VI?
In the chassis from left to right you have a 7159A, 7159A, 7199, 12AX7, 6CG7, 12AX7.
Which 12AX7 is the preamp, and which is the Tremolo tube? Thanks! |

According to this http://www.schematicheaven.com/ampeg..._gemini_iv.pdf
The 6CG7 (V5) is the reverb driver, 12AX7 V6A is the reverb recovery, and V6B (12AX7) is the tremolo oscillator. I don't remember how the V#'s physically line up though. V1 and V2 are the power tubes. The input stage is V4 (12AX7) so follow the wires from the input jack to confirm that the tubes are numbered in a straight line.

Not sure what you're asking.

If both the 12AX7s just run tremolo/reverb, then they aren't acting as a pre/power gain tube and so don't affect the tone as much as say the 7159A or 7199?

The 12ax7 closest to the input is your tone tube. The 7199 is the driver/phase inverter.

Ah thanks! I took the 12AU7 and 12AT7 tubes out, put in some old Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7 and it cleaned up the Ampeg nicely, thanks!
