Yep. Haven't listened to it in a while. Time to pull it out and put it in car rotation for a while.

Read a bunch about Kimock...

On this board. Saw a couple of Youtube performance videos and could tell he could a play.

Bought this CD to get to "know" his music and it put me to sleep.

I played it in the car on a couple of hour drive (good system in my car) and my college age kids asked my to turn it off, said it was worse than W Hotel music, Gen X elevator music. They are both performers, my son studies and peforms opera and arranges for and performs in an a cappella group, my daughter acts, sings and studies dance at the university level and have impeccable/ecclectic taste in music that is much broader than mine. Dig rock and jazz that I like but are deep into classical, opera, ballet, Broadway...stuff that I would turn the station on. Had to agree with them.

Not trying to be a putz, but this was one of the most dissappointing musical recordings I have ever purchased. Inane songwriting to drum machine simple rhythms...started nowhere and went nowhere with nothing in the middle, not even good riffing?

Saw a recent Youtube with this guy on slide, pretty lame...kinda funny, a couple a guys thought his slide playing was good. Different strokes. But be warned, at best it's an aquired taste. Try before you buy.

Thanks for the warning!! It's reassuring to have more sophisticated ears save us from our tastes.

You have to listen to the notes he's not playing.

I'm not gonna argue preferences wit any one, but calling his slide playing lame puzzles me. To me Kimock's intonation is so amazing I could listen to him play one note. As for the drums, I actually think the drumming on that CD is what's the word...perfect. And since we seem to have to throw around our CV to have a discussion...I just worked with Dave Weckl and Marco Minnemann on drums.

Apparently you don't need to try very hard, it seems to come naturally.

You know, you can say it's not to your liking, and even talk about the elements that didn't appeal to you, without the sneering tone so common among people who sit on their ass in the bleachers and criticize.
