Newest Build - the Stratelespaul

Ok, to some this might seem sacreligious, but I've wanted a do it all guitar for a while. So, when I saw the P-Rails from Seymour Duncan, I thought those would be right up my alley and I decided to build a guitar around them. At first, I planned to do it on the cheap, but I couldn't help myself and went all out. Specs are: Homebuilt Spruce body with blonde nitro finish, USACG Neck with Madagascar Rosewood 10" radius board and Stainless Frets, Planet Waves Locking Tuners, Wilkinson Trem with a Tremol-No and the aforementioned P-Rails with a Vintage Rails in the middle. Switching is standard five way with a push pull on one tone to get neck and bridge pickups together. Each P-Rail has its own tone control and the three way mini-switch gives me P-90, Humbucker and Strat single coil options. It's only been together one day and needs more of a setup, but the initial impression is very good.

Your build looks like fun. I'd love a full report on the P-Rails; I am starting a build (more of "Tele as a Les Paul Special" but at least in the same ballpark as your Tele/LP). I am considering putting one in the neck position to go with a Tele bridge p'up. I know Seymour advocates matching P-Rails, but I am not looking for that many variations - too much for me...

So anything you can share about the neck pickup would be great - thanks in advance!

I think the neck would go nicely with a tele bridge. It's very clear and open sounding in humbucker mode. The P90 mode sounds like, well, a P90 and the strat mode isn't dead on, but is a decent approximation of a strat pickup. Be aware that there is a volume drop when going to different modes, although the P90 and Humbucker are pretty close in output. Hope that helps.

I'd like to hear that too. I like the look of the reverse slant on the middle pickup. I've never seen that before.

No series/parallel switching?

Seriously, that's an excellent build!
