Which head for vox cleans?

Looking for a 30 watt vox head for strictly cleans. I have a 15 watt clone that has awesome distortion, so I just need to cover the clean sound.

Can be a boutique/clone, but keep it under $1k used.

For 30 Watts the Vox AC30CCH or Valvetech hayseed come to mind.

If you want a little more headroom look for a used Vox AC50 head....

I'd like to keep it around 30 for cleans.

Hayseed seems like a good value. Are the voxes reliable though? I can't remember if it was that model or others that had issues.

Most Vox Ac30 's have had issues, including the ones back in the 60's. The AC30TBX built in England and the AC30CC built in China are not known for being the most reliable amps.

I had an AC30CC1 and it worked great. The key for the AC30CC's is 1. Don't use the Standby. 2. Replace the rectifier tube when you get it. 3. Replace the power tubes when you get it. Mine was a early 2005 model, the tubes in the new ones are supposed to be better....

dr z stang ray. Some of the best cleans I've heard. Based off of a non-topboost ac30.

Ceriatone builds a few very cool EL84 heads, all hand wired and reasonable.

Yeah, I've been looking into them and matchless.

I just need something for cleans though.

If you talk to Nik at Ceriatone, he can certainly custom voice a 4X EL84
to retain more clean headroom.

The Liverpull is a very cool amp!

I've also heard strong reviews of his Mutchless heads.

I'd go ahead and have the head cabinet built here to save shipping and to
get custom colors or tone woods.

I can get a completed el84 from him for $685 and shipping, he's running a special of some sort.

the gibson ga30rv super goldtone has a great "vox" clean channel that is LOUD and it has the built in footswitch boost circuit to push it over the top if you want. these go used for $650 to $850.
