Lifting Inlay

I have an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul and one of the inlays is lifting. Looks like the glue gave up.

Can I use Super Glue or is there a better glue to use? It has mother of pearl inlays not the pearloid stuff and I just wanted to make sure that I don't use something that will have a bad reaction.

What say the Glue Guru's.

Super glue is fine. A hobby shop will offer multiple viscosities, from water-thin to gel.
If you can gently lift the inlay enough to get the medium or thick (not gel) viscosity under it, you'll be in good shape. Use the replaceable tips for accurate placement.
If you can't lift it enough, use a small amount of thin and let is wick in around and under the inlay. You can do this a couple/few times as needed. Hold it down with the finger after gluing until dry - 30 seconds or so.
However!!! Becareful it doesn't pour over the edge of the fretboard onto the finish and don't glue your finger to the board .
Use a sharp razor blade and some 0000 steel wool for cleanup.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the great info Ron. Yeah it lifts up enough that it won't be hard to get to with a thin tip.

The guys in the band would never let me live it down if I glued my finger to the board, so I'll be plenty careful. Too funny.

Thanks again

Man, that's like getting Michael Phelps to help with your backstroke!

Or Tiger Woods to give you advice on your swing.

This is such an awesome board.

I use a bit of wax paper (NOT plastic film of any kind) under my finger when I've gotta press something like that down. Find it at the supermarket. Also works under clamps, cauls and stuff like that.

LOL you know if Ron tells you to be careful of something, then he's done it at least once
