Racks in the 80's

Remember them Racks (as tall as a fridge in some cases)
I had mine custom built by Mr. Bradshaw himself.
power VHT (Purple)
Preamp Mesa Boogie Studio
Eventide Harmonizer
TC 2290
BBE
Bradshaw switching system
2 Boogie 1x12 Cabs for Stereo
I have a pic somewhere so I can post this rig..
Anyone else?

Yup... Bob built mine too. I LOVE it! Not much appreciation for rack gear here, I'm sad to say. Mostly pedal guys, but those of us who dig them are still around.

I'd give real money to plug into Lukather's 'Isolation' era rack.
3 Mark 3 boogies....with his Valley Arts robot.

Ya... I am doing something similar. Multi-amp switching w/d/w rig for me instead of just stereo and one of the amps is a MKIII Coliseum Simul-Class. Power amp is Mesa Simul 395.

I used to work for the company that stored/carted Luke's gear. I played through that rig (Robot) guitar too.
To the original poster, Bob built mine also, VHT purple 2150 also. Post your pic when you get a chance.
I still have my rack, waiting for it to become vintage in 20 years, & sell it for my retirement. Highly unlikely!

When I was a poor young guitarist in the 80s, I envied those "pro" racks, and kept selling off junky old gear like a silverface Princeton Reverb and a Thomas Organ Crybaby, hoping to get a "real" sound. Then I "grew up" and realized how cool all those old pedals and amps sounded. But nowadays, I seem to be aquiring vintage 1980s rack gear...

I think rack stuff is really cool. I could never use it, and have no space for it, but it's certainly very cool. Just because I'm a pedal guy doesn't mean I cannot appreciate a big ol' wall of sound gizmos.

There is no such thing as "proper tone."

I can't find pics but I used to run a rag myself, but it was the 90's...I was VERY uncool but I did have a good tone...should never sold it but things happen, I might go rack again one day but right now I seem to do just fine with a pedal board and a few old combo amps.
