Low powered EL84 for amazing cleans

Hi,

Well, I would greatly appreciate some input/advices/recommendations.

What I need/want:

A/ EL84 power tubes and blend

B/ Amazing clean sound

C/ Amazing reverb

D/ Perfect for jazz, blues, … ... clean and crunch!

E/ Versatile for both single coils and humbuckers: Strat type, Tele type and ES EE5 type of guitars.

F/ … and – last but not least – delivers perfect sound quality at bedroom level (95% of my playtime) > most important criteria!

I've heard the Bruno UG30 - this is what I am looking for in terms of sound and approach but:
- too expensive
- to powerful

What would be a small Bruno UG30?

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

T

How about the Koch Studiotone? Seems right up your alley!

I really liked the cleans with my Strat and 335. The OD can get REAL heavy, but sounded great at lower gain settings.

I'd recommend you try one before you buy it though :-)

3 channels (clean, overdrive & overdrive boost) foot switchable, 20 watts
One set of passive bass-mid-treble tone controls
Two front-panel voicing switches (mid-shift 2 way, bright 3 way) for all channels
Newly designed VG12-60 Koch 12” speaker (combo only)
4, 8 & 16 ohm speaker outputs plus speaker on/off switch
Serial effects loop (10 dBV signal level)
Recording output with speaker simulation and 2 voicing filters
Direct outputs (non-filtered, clean channel & headphone)
Reverb: Three spring short model
2 way footswitch included

This has no reverb but I think the Nolatone Chimey Limey would be a serious contender

Yep. I can put a serial effects loop in the Limey so you can run an external verb through the back.

Matchless Lightning is killer cleans and with Master volume can be brought down to bedroom level!
Reverbs are good also.

Sewell Texaverb 15 with el 84's. This little guy has it all, and I think there is one in the emporium.

+1 on the Matchless Lightning.

One key component of great clean performance in a low wattage amp is headroom, and the Lightning has some of the best headroom of any EL84 amp in that wattage range.

Another to consider is the Dr. Z Maz Jr. Exceptional amp.

...Might be late on this, but I'll toss my hat in for the Lone Star Special. It meets all of your criteria, plus considering the quality and features it's a steal compared to most of the boutiqueys.

The cleans are near unbeatable: silky, smooth, utterly controllable and driveable. It's what a Fender wishes it could be.

The reverb is simply gorgeous. And the drive channel is hugely underrated. It's like buttah.

I'm certainly biased since I have the Classic and love it, but given what you could spend on something with fewer features and arguably equivalent tone quality... the LSS meets the requirements without breaking a sweat.

The best clean tone of any EL84 based amp with verb: Divided by 13 ERT33.

Plus one for the Lonestar Special. The 5 watt setting is just awesome, and you can crank it up to 15 or 30 if you ever do need some headroom.

And the reverb is killer... with a warm/bright switch!

A few others have already mentioned it, but I just thought I would chime in and say that the amp you are describing, to a T, is a Dr. Z Maz.

Thanks - what amp would be the closest to a Bruno UG 30 - minus the price tag and power?

Suhr Badger 18? ...
