Very Clear and Natural sounding humbuckers?

Hi. I like the sound of my electric guitar unplugged. Are there any humbuckers out there that sound very clear and natural, similar to an unplugged sound?
I am not just talking about treble. Instead I am looking for humbuckers that pick up what the guitar really and trully sounds like with no coloration.
In other words if you were going direct, you would say "hey that sounds just like it sounds like when I play unplugged." Thanks for any suggestions (other than mic it).

You could get very open sounding humbuckers, like e.g. Bare Knuckle Stormy Mondays and then add a piezo bridge and blend them together. Guess that would give the most useable results.

I completely agree. DRV's have transformed my guitar.

IMO, you'd need single coil pickups to do that. Humbuckers tend to be too mid heavy (which is good for certain things)...but, for "clear & natural", I've yet to hear a humbucker do that to my satisfaction. But humbuckers are quieter in noisy environments...so, depending on the situation, there's a trade off...clarity or less noise.

Plug your guitar straight into a direct box and then into the sound board. This will sound very close to your unplugged guitar. You probably will not like it however.

I always wondered if there was such thing as a humbucker with a P90 sound.

In the beginning they were pretty close.
That's a big part of the PAF attraction.

P-90's do it already so that's my preference though I like a good set of Humbuckers too.

But if you could have a set of P90's that didn't hum and didn't lose any of the tonal qualities of the P90, wouldn't that be best? All other pickups would be obsolete.

Fralin P-92s. Not as in your face as P-90s, particularly if you buy the underwound ones. Quite as humbuckers ans they fit directly into a humbucker route.

Totally agree with Brian ...
However, I've even replaced my great sounding P-92's recently with
Fralin Twangmasters for ultimate articulation & clarity ...
Makes playing any Gibson type of axe a completely new experience ...

Thanks for the answers.
jaeger28: I hate the attack sound of piezos. Very metallic and clacky.
rockinlespaul: I am curious as to why a "vintage" pickup would be colorless.
VaughnC: You are probably right but my guitar is not cut for singlecoils.
illini: I am sorry but going direct with a direct box does not get me there. That is the whole reason I started this thread.

Filtertrons or some variation by TV Jones. With as little output as possible, that should get you there.

Excellent reccomendation. TVJ Classics are the clearest, "truest" HBs I've ever heard. At 4K (neck) and 4.8K (bridge), they have less power than my single coils do.
