Boss DD-3 HI CUT mod
hey guys...wanting a little softer tone on the repeats. looks like a lot of guys are using a capacitor on the outside legs of the FEEDBACK pot. does that do a good job of cutting the crisp, bright repeats in an analog sounding way? i don't need the keeley/analogman type of switchable options...i just want the darker sound all the time...
also, does the cap mod make each repeat darker and darker? any suggestions on cap value??? .47??? the situation is that i have an old ad-9 (HATE those ibanez switches) that isn't quite stage friendly enough to keep messing with honestly...the sound is nothing to complain about at all, but i don't want to drill it for a DPTT stomp switch -- and i already have the dd-3 to mess with...if it sounds right then my problem will be solved w/o spending much $$$... i guess i'm going for the type of thing boss did with the dd-7 analog mode...any opinions on that? THANKS for the help and opinions!!! |

.022 - .047 is good. Experiment. Outside lugs on feedback. Darker and darker repeats. A used Carbon copy even better.

I have one I bought used with the Cmatmods high cut mod installed and it does wonders to the DD-3 I never use it stock anymore, anyway I had a DD-3 befor this one and I put a cap across the level pot which just maintains darker repeats but does not continue to get darker, I think I used a .022uF

is there any reason to mod BOTH pots with a cap? some of those boss forums are what had me questioning everything to start with a couple of days ago...differing opinions on the cap placement...do i need a cap on the level and on the feedback??? or will the feedback mod be enough to get me in analog-land? hope that makes sense...i just want to get there the best way, and i know you guys have heard the different options and been inside a pedal or two! thanks again for the info and cap suggestions guys...i appreciate your knowledge on this stuff!!! The Feedback pot will give you Darker and darker which sounds more analog. Cap on the level Is just like turning down a tone control, all dark unchanging repeats into decay. Which is nice for softening the delay signal attack when the delay mix is loud.
You certainly don't want both mods at the same time but, with a dpdt and a little thinkin' you can have Lev pot mod / feedback pot mod.

Resurrecting a long dead thread:
Anyone have pictures of that this mod looks like when complete? I can't seem to visualize what this would look like when done. Thanks!
