OCD v4 at 18 Volts...WOW

I've been avoiding the OCD...for some reason. I guess it seems that everybody and their mother has one. Fulltone products that I bought in the past as a whole have not blown me away. I recently took a new v4 in on a trade and tried it out yesterday running at 18 v. This pedal does the hard overdrive/distortion better than anything I have ever played. I can't believe how dynamic the OCD is. The harmonics are stunning. Touch sensitive...you better believe it! Boosted with a Klon...

I'd been avoiding the OCD too for some reason. . . still like my Fat Boost FB-1, FullDrive 2, and Choralflange (traded in my CS Mini DejaVibe, and passed along my Distortion Pro to a deserving kid).

Got V.4 and really like its clear tone and touch response (running it at 12.5v-PP2).

I just got an 18v power supply for my OCD v4. I like it at 18v! By the way my son used to work at FullTone and built it for me. Inside where the builder initials it it says "to dad". I'm keeping this one!

Awesome!

And yes, the OCD at 18 volts is pretty great.

I got mine through Musician's Friend. It's the Dunlop ECB004.

I don't understand why people use them at 9v.

Has anyone A/B'd 12v to 18v? I'm using the 12v setting on a PP2 as well, and wonder how the response will change. Does it sound less scooped? Does it make the LP setting sound like HP? Voodoo Lab makes an 18v Y cable that sells for 10 bucks for folks using multi-output PS units.

i have tried it at 9, 12, 15, 17, and 18v.

IMO higher voltage makes the pedal sound tighter, punchier, less fuzzy/ buzzy sounding and more articulate. The response is slightly more dynamic.

at 12v it just sounds and plays a little more amplike than at 9v but the goods don't happen until 15v with 17v and18v being better IMHO. (very little difference between 15-18v, noticable jump in quality from 12 to 15v)

So if you have a PP2 is there a way to run the OCD at 18v? I know it can do 12v

Yes. You can make or buy a cable that connects to two 9v ports on the PP2. It's a "Y" cable. I got one with a TREX fule tank JR.

I LOVE my OCD at 18v!

I like my OCD V.4 at 18 volts - punchier and bigger. I use a Dunlop DC Brick with the 18 volt output. Easy as pie.
