Your favorite "do it all" guitar

Some guitar seem really well suited for certain purposes. Others seem well suited for a wide variety of purposes.

Lots of guitars--maybe any guitar, in the right hands--can do it all. That is--can be a great guitar for many styles and many purposes (live performance, recording, etc). But those of us that play a wide variety of music, probably have a favorite or two. What are your favorites and what makes it your favorite?

The best all-around guitar I have found is a Stratocaster Deluxe HSS since it is good for blues, rock, funk, and raggae. It also stay in tune because of the locking tuners.

I've got something similar by EBMM. A HSS Silhouette Special. Except that instead of single coils in there, I actually use DiMarzio Cruisers, where enough gain will deliver a nice mini-humbucker type tone, and mild gain will give a single coil like chime. I use the same guitar for everything from Blues to Metal.

so on the 2nd page of this thread, i'm convinced most every guitar will do it all. maybe it would have been easier to ask what guitar won't do it all

However, I did put on a wound 3rd so no major bending for me, but my Stratocaster can do a convincing jazz tone with the tone rolled back.

Hey Leon,
How you livin'? Hope all is well.
My first call guitar for the last 2-3 years has been my PRS Custom 22.
Great single coil tones (Dragon II's...they sound GREAT split in my axe), full on humbucker for passable jazz on the neck (I just have to roll the tone back a bit). Overdriven bridge 'bucker is a soaring eagle to me through my Bogner rigs. The trem is a beauty, and feels good in my hands.

What more can one ask for?
(answ. Just ask me!)

I go with an ES-335 or a Tele - either one covers nearly all my ground.

Agreed generally about Teles.

In my case, specifically:

The neckbucker is splittable, and it has 5-way switching. Extremely versatile.

My Gibson ES-137 Classic. It can be a clean jazz box, it can play smokey blues and it can play screaming Les Paul hard rock tones.
