Reverbs: Hardwire RV-7 vs. Verbzilla

Mainly interested in the plate sounds, but overall versatility is of course a plus. The cave and octo settings of the verbzilla are very cool, just not sure how useful. And, does the latest version of the verbzilla still have an unwanted volume boost problem, or has that been squared away.

Kind of leaning towards the Hardwire, but would like to hear your opinions.

I really like the Plate setting on the Hardwire, use it everyday, with no plans to change.

Haven't done a side by side with the Verbzilla, but also don't feel the need to given how good the Hardwire sounds.

I love my Hardwire rv-7 reverb. I used a holy grail plus for years, but ALWAYS dug the sound of the Lexicon reverbs in the studio. The Hardwire pedal uses the Lexicon reverbs and is lisenced by Lexicon to do so! It's the least expensive pedal on my board...but it's not going anywhere! Check it out!! You won't be disappointed!!

I love the RV-7 having tried one. Options are great to have on board but, when I played the EHX NANO Holy Grail, It just did the trick for me.

Not sure the verbzilla "Volume boost problem" is / was a issue affecting all the verbzillas, I have an early one and it does not have this problem. not say that some don't have this issue though.

one thing against the older verbzillas is they they can not be daisy chained with other pedals on the same PSU. This has been fixed, I believe.

Cheers

I have to admit that this was a problem I've read on the web, not had first hand experience. Very well could be one of those "YMMV" kind of things.

I had a Verbzilla. It was just ok. Just sounded a little too sterile to my old-school ears.

I'd love to spend some time with a Hardwire.

could be.

Great Peal though, but have not played an RV-7 so can not help with the comparison.

OT - Mines heading to ebay i think, I am going to go the way of the M9 I think.

Cheers

I've had both and the Hardwire just seemed a bit smoother/lush. If you have a loop in your amp, run your verb through it, The differance is day/night.

You might want to check out the Digiverb - underrated reverb in my opinion. No volume issues and sweet plate, room, and surf sounds.

The first 3 are always ON for Dirt, and I use the Sovereign as a Solo Boost.

RV7 plate setting is my favorite. Digitech has really made comeback lately with hardwire, harmonyman and the RP1000 I just got a few days ago [derail] btw the best floor modeling multi I've played yet [/derail].

But yeah the Cathedral is what I'm waiting for.

EHX & Digitech (owned by DOD) really know what we Guitar players are looking for.
