Strat Mule for Pick up Testing?

Suggest an el cheapo that has American spec (Imperial) hardware....
I want something that can be hacked about but sounds like a solid wood Strat.
Thanks, Pete

I would suggest Callaham or D'Pergo

I am sorry Trisonic, I am a true thread killer! If you are not stuck on American harware, I would try a MIM Strat, great experiment guitars

Ha!
I don't intend to play it as such just use in my (primitive) workshop to try out pick up winds.
I was thinking more along the lines of Squier - I guess I can live with metric hardware for that reason but which ones are made of real wood and not ply?

Best, Pete.

Probably doesn't matter much as you would soon recognize the direction that the pup would take any guitar.
You must lose the pickguard to make it easier to swap the pups, surely.

I think it's easier to just get get a spare pickguard, and wire it up. Then you just swap guards and move the wires over from the input jack.

That's my plan; just slide them to and fro.

Best, Pete

You can find MIM Strats on Craigslist for as cheap as $150-$200 if you're quick.

Find an American Standard with the swimming pool route, keep your feelers out they can be had pretty cheap sometimes and you won't have to chisel on the thing to experiment with pickups.
