ROLL TIDE!
Bama wins the national championship tonight!
Ingram is a beast. I hope McCoy is OK. He is a class guy and a superb leader and athlete. Shipley will be playing on Sundays. My gig tomorrow night in Mobile, AL will be wild! 17 years ago, my wife was not feeling well. She went to bed and my 3 month old daughter was already asleep. That was 1992, and Bama's last national championship. They missed the end of the game. Tonight, my wife went to bed early and my daughter came in from work and went to bed before the game ended. Just like old times. And Bama won again! This time, I was not alone, but with my 15 year old son and we celebrated in a big way. Good, good times. Now back to reality, where one of my best buds has just had a large cancerous tumor removed. Pray for my friend Jerry. In a sea of piece of shit men today, this guy has been a leader of young men and nearly a saint. He coaches, volunteers, and has a family.. Horrible pain sent him to the ER on 12/30. They found a tumor and he was operated on yesterday. Keep him in your prayers. Live your life! Rejoice in the good times, and man up for the bad ones.

I am %1000 sure that Texas would of won pretty easily if Colt played.

Guess what? He didn't play. Thats football. Bama's defense was stout most of the game. The had a little to do with Colt not being in the game. RTR.

I'm not really a fan of either team but was bummed when McCoy went down because I love to watch great college football, no matter who the teams are. But going into the game, I felt that if Bama played like they did against Florida then Texas didn't have a shot. Bama played well but not as well as they did against Florida (just my opinion). Ingram was great but McElroy didn't look as good as he did against the Gators. Would've been fun to see McCoy play the whole game but he didn't and Texas couldn't rise to the occasion. In a team sport, one player should never make that much of a difference in a game (again, just my opinion).

Would things have been different for Texas in the regular season if Sam Bradford hadn't been injured? Was anybody in Texas really upset by that or feel their win over Oklahoma was tainted this year? I doubt it...they took the win, right? I don't live there or read the papers there...it might very well be the case. Someone in Texas can tell me if it is so.
You can go on and on with if's and but's, but you know what they say about those... Gilbert played a great game in the 2nd half...and Alabama completely fell asleep in the 3rd and much of the 4th quarters....BUT...they beat the rest of the Texas team. I agree with the post above, in a team sport one player should never mean that much.

Lots of mistakes in that game. Kinda sloppy and don't think it was that great of a game. It's always who knows? if Colt was in there. Texas gave away 2TD to Bama.
If you lose your star QB, you're not going to have much of a chance. 1 player can make the difference. If Vince Young would of went down, Texas would not have won that last championship. Great players make great plays. That makes all the difference in tight games.

Yes, and the nature of Aggies and other Texas-based UT rivals is to spend all of their time obsessively criticising UT at every turn because their teams provide nothing of interest for them to say or think about. The friggin aggies at work today were still talking down UT long after both the UT alums and the Bama fans had bored of the discussion. It's pathetic and tiresome. EDIT - alright "pathetic" is overly harsh. I understand it's a strong rivalry, but man I get sick of hearing it. I didn't go to a TX school, so I guess I don't get it. Are Auburn folks dogging Alabama right now because Colt couldn't finish the game?

Nope - don't buy that excuse......Colt goes out and it does make a difference (man, he's a class act) - but it altered BOTH teams game plans and execution for the rest of the game. It was a tough battle on both sides of the ball - give the Horn's a lot of credit - they fought hard - but it was the TIDE's time! |

My perspective on McElroy's performance and game plan changed this morning too when I found out he was playing with 2 cracked ribs from the Florida game.

I was impressed with Gilbert. The kid handled the situation about as well as anyone could expect. He has a bright future at quarterback. Alabama was obviously the superior team even when McCoy was in the game but the Texas coaches did a wonderful job with their gameplan. Both programs should be proud. On the other hand I'm kind of depressed today because the game illustrates how tough the SEC is. My alma mater has a long way to go to be truly competitive in the conference. As much as I hate to say it, Roll Tide.
