i can get feedback without using an amp, but it doesn't sound anything like Hendrix

to clarify, i uses a sansamp gt2 with an EMG afterburner(20db boost)

You need more stuff between the guitar & amp, namely a compressor.

isn't this sort of an unrealistic/pointless quest?

I mean, say you get in the ballpark tone-wise - you will still be able to hear your strings acoustically over the amp...somehow I think you will be missing something.

maybe try working on a different idea.
