Where are these things made?

We should make a list of where pedals are manufactured. We could put them all on one page for easy reference. If you know of a specific company and where it makes its effects please post them in your response.

Made or assembled?

The way I see it, if more parts are put together in one place than in another, the place where the most parts are put together is where it is made.

The reason I ask is because a lot of folks get their PCBs populated at a board house overseas and just wire everything in the pedal enclosure when it gets to them. I'd say that falls into the "assembled" category.

Usually you can tell if a PCB has been soldered by hand or if a machine did it just by looking at the solder joints. Not to say that one is better than the other. Just a different amount of work involved. Mechanized processes are definitely faster and very consistent while hand soldering is much more time consuming but can be just as good quality wise. I've seen some really shoddy work done with both methods and really high quality work done with both methods. It's all about the QC and ultimately the price paid, either in dollars or time.

Then you've got the components themselves. I use parts that come from all over the world, each of them manufactured from raw materials from some other source...

With this stuff you can't really say 100% was made in one place. Except for maybe the ones made in the manufacturing monopoly of China.
