Dude, I play a Maz 38 with an Avatar cab that smokes as well. The Doc's stuff pretty much blows away most of the junk out there.

Really just a heavy duty 2-12 Theile.
I've had 8-12" stacks get slapped upside the head (ok, bottom) next to a couple stacked 1-12" EVM 12L Thieles.

Now that would be interesting, to put a couple of EVM 12L's in a ZBest. It'd be getting close to 80 lbs but I'll bet it would reek havoc and mayhem.

My Glaswerks 1x12 Thiele w/ EV can be much more in your face and "cutting" than the M75-loaded Germino 4x12 sitting next to it, but there *is* something totally cool and unique about the tone and bigness factor with the 4x12. I like them both.

BTW, I owned a Z-Best years ago with a Route 66 and all I remember is how MASSIVE the thing sounded.

Z Best 2x12's are the cat's pajamas. I looked for months for a used one and always missed out on them when they hit the emporium.....I'd love to load my Scumbacks into one, but I just couldn't imagine selling another 2x12 and shipping it out....I'd lose my mind

Just one Zbest is enough to blow away most of the 4x12's around. I finally got one and it rawks (the combo with my KT45 is somethin monstruous).
YEAH!!!

Has anyone compared the Z-best to the Hermida ported 2x12?

I'm interested in both, I know the hermida is designed for EV-12L's, but wondered if anyone has experience with both and can compare? I use a whole variety of speakers so which is better for what?

I had both, for a short time. To my ears, the Z sounded very good with Celestion speakers (V30, C90 mix). It was a very warm, rich-sounding combination. I did not try an EV in it - why? Because the dang thing was completely unmovable for me. It is made of heavy plywood, and the handle is ridiculous - like, finger tendon-injuring dangerous. I considered bolting on some side handles, but decided not to bother. The Hermida sounds very similar and weighs next to nothing. My G-Flex 2 X 12" has wonderful keg handles and sounds even bigger than the Z.

If you aren't moving the Z-Best, or always have roadies, it is a fine cabinet.

The handle on the Z-Best was intended to aid you in lifting the whole cab to your thigh and then to your chest on one motion while placing one hand on the front edge and one hand on the bottom back edge. Piece o'cake once it's up there. Carrying it at your side with the handle would be dangerous for your back. I much prefer a handle on top like that because the side handles force you to bend over in a very non-back-friendly way to get it off the ground.
