Saw a Tele in a shop - for a string change!

I was blown away. I had no idea strings needed to be changed on a Tele. Those things are built like tanks and you would think for the price you pay the damn strings would last forever.

You didn't have to throw the Tele away. Just put a string shim in the nut slot and keep going!

That's just silly. The guitar comes with plenty of wire wrapped around those magnet thingies. You could've just used some of that.

I actually tried to "weld" a string back together when I was a kid (with a Bic lighter). It didn't work.

I just picked my air guitar up from a string change.

They had a special this week only!

Man does it play nice now! Fortunately it didn't need any intonation work.

Check out the pics below.

Now that you mention it I think it may have been a Squier Tele and the owner figured with all the money he saved he could afford to pay someone else to change his strings.

The guy who owns it must be a rich lawyer that rarely does pro-bono work, and when he does I bet it's probably the kind where there's ulterior motives and he boasts about it to pick up women in fancy nightspots. And when you're driving and someone passes you on the right - that's that guy too! And when you buy a bag of potato chips and it says "35% more!" on it, and you open the bag and it's already half empty? It's that guy again! Who else would bring a guitar into a guitar service shop for a service they offer like a string change?

I once sent my Tele in to be serviced.

The strings were fine, but I wanted it tuned to Eb...

It was mine. The strings were fine, but I wanted to go more manly, I was having a set of 15's put on.
