Combo users check the stock speaker wire-thin?

If you have a combo and the stock speaker wire is very thin, like on the Ampeg J20 for example, this is nice thick wire at a good price-

I've swapped stock, thin speaker wire in a couple of combo amps for high-end speaker wire from Lava Cable and I couldn't hear a difference. I think the cable length is too short to make much of a difference; maybe in a longer run it would. You've got to consider, inside the amp the signal is going through a lot of cheap cable before it hits that last 1 foot run to the speaker; will changing that 1 foot of cable make any difference?

I do hear a difference in quality guitar cables though.
