Stacking OD's
I just picked up a TS9 to stack up with an OCD. I'm looking to use the OCD for cleaner sounds, rhythm kind of stuff, just a little crunch and some boost. Next the TS9 for heavier OD and leads. Does anyone have some suggestions on settings?
I want a pretty big sound for leads. I like to play jam type music mostly (think Trey Anastasio of Phish, Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks), but also some straight rock and blues. I would like the rhythm OD to be pretty clean sounding but have some edge. I want the leads to really cut through the mix. This is my first experience with stacking these so any suggestions are welcome! Thanks! |

![]() ![]() This should get ya started! I think TS's work best when the amp is near or at breakup. I would start with the gain on the pedal down and the volume up so it is more off a compressed mid-boost. Then increase the gain as needed (back down the volume if it gets too loud). You can stack the OCD into it or the other way around as well. Oh yea - also check out Rob Salver from U-Melt, nother 2 TS guy!

Those pedals stack great together. I prefer the TS going into the OCD personally, but try both ways to find what works best for you. The TS's mids really compliment the OCD. I would try something like TS (vol 2:00, drive 11:00, tone 12:00) into OCD (vol 12:00, drive 9:00, tone 12:00). Some extra volume on the TS will slam the OCD well. Tone on both pedals will really need to be to taste of course. You'll find what you like, you just got to play around. Thats the fun part anyway!

Thanks for the tips guys! Can't wait to really get a chance to screw around with these. Should the lower gain pedal befirst or second in the chain? I'm thinking first, but not really sure. I'll probably try it in every combo and see which I like best. The main thing I'd like is to not have a drastic volume change between the two.

Wow! I put the TS9 in front of the OCD and HOLY CRAP!!! HUGE sound for leads! I'm not totally sold on the rhythm sound from the TS9 though. Seems to lack something. Totally pushes the heck out of the OCD though! Any suggestions on settings for the TS9 as a rhythm/boost with slight crunch? I want it to be a little brighter and cleaner.

Stacking just makes thin thinner and fake noisier , better by far to stack an od pedal with an od channel.

As far as the OP's question, I'd say keep the OCD on all the time in LP mode with the gain at just about a breaking point, and the TS going into it with gain down around 10, and volume at just above unity. Tone to taste of course!
