Question Club 40 users - what settings do you like?

And for what guitars? Just curious how some of you guys are getting your favorite sounds out of this amp.

My settings right now are tweaked just slightly from what Greg had the amp set at when I picked it up:

Presence - noon
Bass - 9 o'clock (2)
Middle - 3 o'clock (8)
Treble - 1 o'clock (6)
Volume 1 - 2:30 - (about 7 1/2)

I think his LP was a '94, '59 reissue but not positive. My guitar is a Heritage H150 and I really haven't had to tweak the settings too much.

Just tried these -- they sound really great!! Thanks!

So how's that new Club 40?

That's about my settings also. I set the volume lower for at home practice with a drive pedal or fuzz in front.

I don't know why I can't get the link to post, but there's a thread from late '08 called "Germino: Which one is for me?" that has tons of posts with people's setting suggestions. Try that.

phoenix 7 - The Club 40 is awesome! I love the amp for all tones but I'm just blown away by the cleans.

JiMB - Yeah, I meant to say that myself (regarding the OD pedal). I sold everything off awhile back to I need to replenish my collection. I'm probably going to buy the Fulltone OCD this weekend.

khawk, the Timmy is also a great pedal with the Club 40. I did a bunch of A/B tests with the Club 40 clean+Timmy v. the Club 40 by itself cranked. The Timmy sounds VERY much like the Club 40 cranked. (The Timmy is famous for that kind of thing.)

Oh cool, okay. Thanks for the reminder. I'd said the other day I was going to check it out and got lost in the OCD research. As if it's not difficult enough researching all of this stuff, there's FOUR versions of that pedal?!?!

Going to check out the Timmy now!

I've always wanted to own a Deluxe Memory Man too.

For delay, you might want to look at the Maxon AD-999 too. The repeats on it are really dark and dirty, which works pretty well going into the Germino with vol. cranked to around 7. Because the repeats are already dirty, you don't get as much of that dirty guitar + clean repeats mismatch. But the DMM might work well too.

PS - I use the Club 40 with no dirt pedals - the Maxon delay works well for this. Many delays could work well coming after an OD pedal at cleaner volume settings.

I usually have everything around 2:00 except the Bass which is around 9:00-10:00...I also use a Y-cord to go into both HI inputs...I use a lot of fuzzes and treble boosters...seems to be a very pedal friendly rig...I love the amp...
