M13 P&W users..is it believable?

Hi guys. Changes in staging at church is squeezing out my pedalboard and amp. I'm looking at the M13 and would like to know from the guys using them if they are believable run directly into the board via a DI (no amp)? I had a POD X3 Live and wasn't too impressed with it and seemed like it was overkill for playing currently popular Christian contemporary songs. So before I possibly go down the M13 route I'm hoping to hear from the experienced users here. Thank you!

If you do that with a bass, yes. The m13 has no amp modeling so I would throw in a Character pedal or ethos to get a convincing guitar tone. Go ahead and get the HD500 and you have all the effects of the m13 plus amp models.

The M13 is NOT a direct to board solution (although it is AWESOME with an amp). the HD 500 is, and it can sound amazing going direct. Ask Lincoln Brewster. And, btw, it has the same FX on tap as the M13 does.

The HD 500 is miles better than an X3 Live.

X3 Live is better for some things; such as if you play bass or sing, I would pick up the X3 Live.. I used mine for years as a dualrig and it was awesome. Guitar amp sims isnt as good as HD's but still good enough for any situation.

HD series is best for guitar only, but I found it can't really handle bass at all (least with the current amp sims) and I don't even know if you can plug two inputs in and run both anymore, so vocals/guitar mix may not be possible.

As far as the M13 goes, like someone said it could work great if you get a Tech 21 Character preamp pedal infront, that would be a nice small rig that can go direct.. but I think at that point, unless theres a specific preamp pedal you absolutely love, the HD500 would be a better value/option

I wouldn't be too surprised if a few base amp models and some vocal pre's make into a firmware update. I know they are both very requested. It's a shame they weren't in there from the get-go though. As good as the new guitar models are, there is a lot that seems like a step backwards from the X3 Live...

I understand what your saying about the extra functionality of the X3 but the amps sims are a BIG step down from the HD series. Its not even close.

I could never considering using anything less than the HD for amp tones now.

The M13 and the Liverpool Character pedal is an unbelievable combination. But for pure portability and everything, I'd go with the HD500
