Exclamation Tubes fell out, now amp won't work!!! help!

Here's the situation: A few weeks ago someone dropped my amp, a '65 Twin Reverb Reissue, while moving it.

When they did one of the 4 larger tubes fell out, but it seemed to work fine (I put the tube back in). Later I began to notice the faint smell of smoke, and that the tube that fell out wasn't heating as red as the others (neither was the one to the left of it). There was also a shrill, but very faint hum.

So I decided to take the tubes out and inspect them. On the two tubes that weren't heating as hot, the little black piece that goes into the amp was broken, but the "prongs" were all fine.

After putting the tubes back in the amp won't work anymore. What happened? Now none of the tubes are getting hot, and there is no sound.

What should I do? Replace the tubes and that'll resolve the problem, or is there a larger issue as well?

Any help would be appreciated

You may have replaced the tube with the broken key post incorrectly, which can cause a S_ _tload of problems. Make sure that the "key" (the ridge on the thing that fell off) is aligned correctly. Replacing the tubes is definitely an option, but I'd take it in to your tech for a good going through. Smoke is usually an indicator of some bad things happening in your amp. better safe than sorry.

Yeah, I lined it up correctly now, but maybe initially I didn't?

I do remember hearing a bit of a pop, right when I turned on the amp after putting the tubes back on, and then it worked no more...

I'm fairly sure that I didn't line it up correctly. Is there an easy fix?

Checking the fuse with a meter and replacing it (if necessary) is the cheap fix, but I'd take it to a tech. Hearing pops and smelling smoke are not a good thing...

If you smelled smoke it may have come from a screen grid resistor. This, or whatever the problem is, should be handled by an experience tech. Otherwise you risk and endless cycle of replacing tubes, blowing them up, etc...or just not fixing the problem.

Cool

Smoke is tone...it will have to be replaced...the smoke that is. LOL
Seriously pay attention to the above posts. Don't turn the amp on again til a tech sees it.

Try this guy: opie356@gmail.com. I don't know if he does repair work, but worth checking to see.

Good thing you're taking it to the tech. When the tube dropped it probably took a hit as it hit bottom so it may be bad even before you inserted back in. If you inserted it back in with the key broken off and misaligned the tube, ouch.
