Lovepedal OD Eleven

For those who have received the pedal so far, what's your thoughts on it?
What was your wait time?

I just ordered one, really looking forward to it. I had a fuse and a burst. I was wanting something else that I could add a little bass with a little less compression. This looks great.

Please no bashing guys, I have bought three Timmy's straight from Paul between 05 and 07. The Timmy is a great pedal, but it only worked well with Marshall style amps in my opinion. Looking for something a little different. So there, cats out of the bag, now move on.

I have used the LP Amp11 for a while now. I know the OD11 and the drive side of the Amp11 are not exactly the same pedal, but there are definite similarities. It's a good sounding pedal to my ears, very amp-like. If the OD11 is even close to what the Amp11 brings to the table, then you'll be happy.

Nope, they're the same circuit. Don't believe those people who try to tell you the earth is flat; science proved otherwise long ago.

It's been discussed in other threads... I thought the consensus was they're not the same? My bad if you've seen the layouts and they are the same. I'm not claiming to be an expert... just like the COT boost on my Amp11 a lot!

I think it was Sean who said they were a little different. They certainly worked a bit different on my board so that I put my Amp 11 back on the board even though I don't use the boost.

That's what you'll get. A lot less compression and much more EQ flexibility

Yeah, I'd say so. It's a bit tricky, since they're both pretty transparent (meaning I could get each of them to sound like the pedal wasn't engaged when it was on). From that point, it's just a matter of adding in what you want from each pedal: a little volume, a little bass, a little treble, what have you.

The biggest difference I see between the OD11 and the Timmy is that the Timmy has control over the treble and the bass-- leaving the mids out of it. PaulC has mentioned that treb/bass fully clockwise will bring back mids, while treb/bass fully counterclockwise (least cutoff) will have more of a scooped feel. The OD11 uses the "tone" control in place of Treble- but still has a bass knob for controlling how much low end there is. The tone knob seems to be more of a tilt approach to tone sculpting, emphasizing certain freq's on one end of the dial and the opposite freq's on the opposite end. Then you can add/subtract bass from there.

Just two ways of looking at EQ, both cool. I tend to like the rasp or grainy-hair of the Timmy for what I play. I just set everything at noon and it sounds killer through any amp with any guitar. The OD11 actually has far less gain than I thought. Maybe better for a boost-- which is what people usually say about the Timmy... but then again, I prefer the Timmy as a low OD, not a boost. Anyway, there's some more of my thoughts

In the brief time I've spent with the OD11, it has more gain than I expected. The gain seems to increase when I crank the bass control up all the way. With my Les Paul (Rio Grande BBQ humbucker) and the bass pot cranked my OD11 has a lot of gain.

That has been my experience as well. I keep trying it out on my 'board, but it adds very little grit to my sound. I bought mine from the first issue some months ago and, at that time I was running a Vox AC15H1TV on the edge of breakup~the OD11 sounded amazing in this scenario. Now I'm using a DRRI and I'm finding it difficult to get a similar result. I must add that over the last few days I've spent more hours tweaking this pedal than any other in my life, but it's just not giving me result that some of Sean's other drives can attain. I've tried boosting the bass in order to get a little more grit, but this just made the amp sound woolly. Yesterday, I put the OD11 in front of my Pro Junior and it was freakin' awesome, but it was already overdriving nicely and the pedal just sent it to heaven. Btw, I'm using an Am. Special Strat (w/ Texas Specials); Am. Deluxe Strat (w/ SCN's) & an Am. Series Tele.

It is smoother. I also feel that the entire range of the gain knob can be used. A lot of everything from low-mid, almost pushing some pretty damn convincing heavy grind can be found. My Timmy is now a Booster. I do not have the Timmy with the toggle, but........The OD-11 coupon is one hell of a box!!

Absolutely. Especially if you're an old school Guitar>OD>Non-MV Tube Amp kinda guy. Sean's stuff really seems to shine in that app.
