Videoing Open Mike Nite..
A lot of people that come to these will never do their own gigs ever & would pay for a vid of themselves backed by a half-decent band. With a cameraman in tow, he & the band could make a few extra bucks; the jammer gets a tool to improve theirself & some posterity.
