Bass thru 112 Guitar Combo

I'm a guitar player who recently acquired and modded a nice SX short scale bass. I don't have a separate bass amp, so I've been playing it through an Omega-modded Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Obviously I'm not getting the best possible sound, but it's good enough for me for the moment (though low E string notes sound muddy). My concern is whether this kind of setup could harm the amp. Any advice/insight?
