Matchless King Cobra roots...

So I'm looking into the Matchless King Cobra (or better stated, making a close copy since I don't have $3k to drop) and I'm trying to get a feel for its roots...

I've heard in a youtube demo that the amp is based on the C-30 series, which would make sense based on the EF86/vol/6-way tone preamp. But I'm not sure about the power amp stage / power supply / tremolo / reverb. Any ideas what these are based on (if anything at all)?

My first instinct is to piece together a C-30 pre, Clubman power amp, fender DRRI trem and verb, and make sure the Clubman power supply can handle the extra loading (I know this is a very simple way of looking at it but you gotta start somewhere )

I'm not familiar with the King Cobra, but the "piecing together" parts of different amps to make another amp is something I've done frequently. A couple things to keep in mind:
1) Make sure your PT has sufficient current available for the application. In other words, it can supply enough AC heater current and DC current to run the amp properly.
2) Identify the components from each amp or section of an amp that you actually need in your design to make it work. For instance, if it's not a two channel amp, you won't need the mixing resistors. You'll need to be able to identify what individual sections are in an amp to accomplish this, and you didn't say what your experience level is.
3) Work safely! If you don't know, take the time to learn the basic safety procedures of amp building. Have fun!

Thanks TweeDLX! I'm glad hear the basic concept isn't farfetched.

I'm definitely new to the amp building/designing. I'm a mechanical engineer, but my interest in guitar electronics took off when the circuits course I took combined with my curiousity and designer side. So far I've been reading through some of the forums here and trying to break down classic schematics. I'm currently looking for a good resource to help guide my project. After reading the online cut of 'The Valve Wizard's preamp and power supply design I think that'll be my choice.

The Matchless Clubman design seems to be influenced by the Selmer Zodiac & / or earlier Selectortone. Cathode biased EL34, Trem, EF86 as a 2nd stage preamp tube, selector switches
