Bump to let you know that the Juicy Bucker does indeed drop right in to a 250 k wiring harness.

I've got one wired up right now with a couple of SSL1s and I've been playing it quite a bit this weekend. The Juicy Bucker sounds big and fat, but still clear and articulate with no mud. The best quack is the bridge/middle and this is a set without the split (I don't have a 250 k push/pull handy).

Everything is nicely balanced and sounds well-matched, tone and output wise.

I'll try to get some video of it up by next weekend (edit: tracking for vids is complete. I'll be editing over the next couple of days and will get it posted this week).

I've got a batch in stock and ready to ship, just waiting for covers to be potted on, this pickup is one of the best tone-for-the-dollar values you're going to find!

We're now offering the Juicy Bucker with the Silent Split option with your choice of a 250 or 500 k push/pull pot.

Bump for some new video.

This is a Juicy Bucker with the Silent Split in the bridge with two old SD SSL1's in the middle and neck (these are both from the 80's so they're almost vintage themselves - boutique before there was boutique). 250 kOhm pots all around, with a push/pull in the middle to actuate the split and the tone pots wired to the middle and neck pickups.

Surprisingly enough, the Juicy, even with its relatively high DCR and inductance (at least in the standard mode) drops right in to this configuration and plays really well with the two conventional singles. The bridge/middle combos are quackier and have a lot more clarity and definition than the neck/middle combos. The Juicy sounds great solo through the 250 k volume pot as well.

This is the Killer App for this pickup! Now you can drop a Strat sized pickup straight in to your existing electronics and get a fantastic P.A.F tone without losing any of your single coil tones, and the bridge position is noiseless even in split mode!

Scott, really looking forward to trying the tour set. Of course you're probably already working on this but just in case - why not a Throaty Bucker with silent split? If you did that on your signature set - well lets just say it might distort the space/time continuum (in a good way)!

Do you want in on the Signature Tour set?

I thought you wanted the Vintage-y one.

If you do want in on the Sig Set, I'll add you to the list. You'd be 2nd up at this point.

Scott - I'd love to try them both. I am more of a vintage guy and the strat neck pickup is my favorite electric tone, but that said I'm totally digging what I hear in the signature set. That bridge pickup - typically the strats Achilles heal imho - is to die for, and you're getting killer quack in positions 2/4. I can't wait to try both sets!
Thanks
Bob

I really like the Juicy Bucker voicing, nice job! I'll keep them in mind for a possible future build. Any chance of an 8 string version?

Thanks!

I could do an 8-string pickup pretty easily, the problem would be the cover...

Jon,

In principle, I can do the split with any of my designs.

In practice, I think the utility of the split will go down as the output (inductance) of the pickup goes down (but I've been happily proven inaccurate on some of my predictions on practical limits lately: specifically the utility of the Juicy with 250 k pots!).

It works really well with the Juicy, as that is the highest inductance pickup we make. I doubt it would have much utility with any of the Vintage series Strat or Tele pickups as those are relatively low inductance.

I'll be putting together a split Throaty Bucker in the next week or so, and the Throaty is similar in inductance to the Fat series Tele pickups (the Throaty as well as the Fat Tele and Fat Single are all in the mid range inductance), so that may give an indication of how well that would work. I'm planning on putting together a Signature Set with a split Juicy and a split Throaty for the New York Amp Show.

I could also do the Juicy formula in a Tele bridge package, which should split similar to the standard Juicy.

I'd have to get a new flatwork designed to enable any of the Tele splits for production models (I can prototype without it, but I wouldn't want to sell any of those), but that is straightforward.

Well Scott, if you could make a tele set that drops in without routing, gets both bucker and single coil sounds out of both the bridge and neck, and stays quiet, you would have one of the most useful tele sets on the market. Tele to Tele-Paul with the flick of a switch!

Yep, I'd be all over that too. I'd do it with the current lineup, but I don't want to route the neck position of one of my guitars - it ain't vintage, I just don't want to have to get the router jig etc.
