Esquire "cocked wah" mod on a tele?

I recently played an Esquire that had a cocked wah setting and loved it. It really got a good Schenker type tone.

Has anyone tried this on a standard tele? Mine has the Def Eddie wiring currently and it's cocked wah setting is pretty unusable for me.

There are a couple of Esquire wiring setups that get called "cocked-wah", and multiple variations of each.

One is the "Eldred Mod", named after Mike Eldred of Fender. The other is the "Arlo Cocked-Wah", named after Arlo West.

Here's a drawing of the Eldred Mod:

As with most Esquire setups, there are lots of variations on these themes. The cap values vary according to pickups & personal preferences.

Thanks for the links! Will these work on a standard tele using a variation of the def eddie 5 way?

There are lots of Deaf Eddie 5-way setups? Which one do you have?

Deaf Eddie has been active on the Tele forum (tdpri.com) the last few days, so you should ask him how to mod one of his setups to add a cocked wah choice. I'm sure he'd be willing to help with that.
