The Church - guitars and amps and effects

For Gear Page guitar players who cover The Church or compose music in The Church style: what guitars, amps, and effects do you play?

Me, I like my Fender Jazzmaster Reissue through my 1997 Vox AC15. I also have a Carvin Acoustic-Electric 12-string, which I think is better than the Ric. For effects, I'm partial to the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man, and the EHX Small Clone Chorus. Previously I used the Danelectro Dan-Echo and Cool Cat Chorus, which are still the best digital delays and chorus pedals I've played.

I never really worried that much about amps and such to achieve their sound. I use to use a strat or later a copy, a good delay pedal such as my trusty BOSS DSD-3, BOSS CE-2 and ebow. Amp wise I use what I always have - a black or blonde fender bassman.

By the way - I forgot to mention Marty Wilson Piper was using this during his Gold Afternoon Fix gig in Raleigh.

And basically, you don't really have to IMHO. Just a few essentials and you are good to go! Couldn't find one posted on Marty yet.

Did you ever score a copy of the out of print Starfish tab book from the late eighties? I still have my copy and it has really helped a lot.

Peter Koppes was using some tape delay device pretty spectacularly on a few things live when I saw The Church in the late 90s. He had it up on a chair so he could manipulate while playing and I think it was during Priest=Aura they went into this spacy jam and he did some really cool old play off the device.

That was the first tab book I ever bought. I learned every song in it, and despite the years of disuse, I suspect I could whip most of them out at least reasonably well to this day.
