My main venue for playing is at our church, and I do that every weekend -- and have for the last 9+ years. Some may not consider this "legit," but I do. It's a weekly, consistent, long term gig.

That said, I play anything from my Les Pauls, my 335, my Koll, my Gretsch, my JG, my SGs, or one of my custom built Teles. We're lucky enough to have a progressive church that likes loud, electric-driven music, so it's cool to be able to utilize all kinds of different guitars and their particular sounds and capabilities week to week.

With our band that just records, I'm typically playing my 88 Les Paul due to the pickups and the heavy music we write. For less heavy songs, I'll use any and all of my other guitars, depending on the sounds I want to get.

I was referring to the great orator and WWII hero, NOT the head-up-his-a** polemicist.

The categories are false. There's lots of guys n their home studios who play very well and would love to play out, but they understand that their chosen life is really pretty sweet and they look at a local musician's life and it looks radioactive.

I make a living in the industry but for my music, it's here at home, in my studio, for free. Me and my friends write songs, teach each other stuff, and hang. What's not to like? I promise you, we are all good players of 40+ years experience each). I figure if I write a big hit and the industry will meet my terms, I may give it a shot, but why go out and try to make a living from such a buggered up business when we can make a good living and have a sane life and a family?

I do play out sometimes. It's fun, but it's not my life.

I get paid to play my Koll guitars several times a week..... Maybe since no one here knows my name these gigs aren't legitimate.... It's not playing ability and knowledge that legitimize you as a professional/semi professional it's how many people on the internet have seen you play and know your name...

oh well, I have a lot of fun anyway.
