Its a "gear" page where people obsess about all aspects of gear, down to the minute detail. If you cant talk about transformers and parts then I dont know what to say. Whoever wanted to turn it into a USA vs China is missing the point really. Crate amps are made in the USA, including their transformers, yet I would never expect to hear the type of support expressed here... just sayin.
It is a discussion and fun for you. But it is Lances livelihood that you are messing with. That is the part you are missing and will likely never get unless your ability to feed, clothe, and house your family was put in jeopardy by some total BS an uniformed person said on the internet. As a buisness owner, it is tough to jump in on a thread like this without coming off as self defensive. You are handcuffed. So even though I don't really know Lance, (I have met him twice at trade shows), I am coming to his defense because I have had this happen to many time to me when I didn't feel I could have a voice. I wish you could for one minute get what this feels like. So yes, I am "getting off this thread" because I do not like it.

FWIW, A very good friend of mine purchased a Retro Channel RR1 head from Lance last month and after giving it a go with my speakers I have to say that I'd put it up against any of my great tube amps...
Great work Lance....

I never said anything bad about the amp... I would like to try one out for sure. I was asking a question based on some rumor I heard and calling for clarification. Seems to have touched a nerve, but it shouldnt have as I was asking in conversation. The off shore topic was not brought up by me, but it did remind me to ask the question. Again, as general conversation. Hell, the scumback guys laugh at the fact that I use chinese celestions but who cares? The emotional butt hurt in this thread is fascinating.... I'm a potential customer btw, not some form of enemy with an agenda.

Lance,
Are you still developing the Dumble styled amp as well? I am really waiting for that one to be honest.

I would love to see a pic of that.

Seems to me that less than $1k for a US made amp @100 watts is a fair price. Especially considering that the Tech 21 Trademark 60 watter is already $600, and the RR1 sounds a hell of a lot better.

Lance comes across as a good dude & the RR1 seems like a great product at a fair price.

At some point I can see myself with a certain high-end digital box running into the RC power amp.

I know that I tend to be old school but I just wonder why people have gotten to the point where decisions to buy are no longer made on the sound and reliability of a product, but rather on where one part is made. I'd understand it more on a really expensive item. Again, just my personal thoughts.

totally agree...Think about how much more complex and sensitive computers are...Where do the parts come from, and where are they made...My Mac is pretty darn reliable and functions beautifully...It's not like other countries aren't capable of producing hi-end parts designed somewhere else...

You read my mind, just simple like the current RR1 set up, with the option of a second gain set up.

I have mentioned that to my partners and it may happen in the future.

The amp is really designed to work with your volume knob on the guitar and right hand attack.
You can really clean up quite a bit by using your volume knob.

One of my friends that has an RR1 actually had a pot in a box made for his pedal board.
He basically has a preset volume there instead of manipulating his guitar volume.
He is getting great results and is in essence channel switching between a cleaner and dirtier sound.
Super cool. I wouldn't mind coming up to Austin to check one out some time. I'm sure if it does the volume roll off as well as you say, it probaly can get you where you need to be.

Here ya go. This started life as a RR1 Head and a MOJO 2-12 Tweed cab for a 5E3 Deluxe chassis. I pulled the lacquerd tweed covering back far enough to recut the opening to suit the RR1 Panel and reattached the tweed covering. I unfortunatly tore the stubborn old tweed in a couple of places and need to replace the top tweed panel and reapply the tinted lacquer to make it cosmetically perfect. The RR1 Module is attached to the existing back panel using the existing RR1 attachment bolts. I attached a black wire screen to the panel vent cutouts to keep the fingers out of harms way.
I must say...this is a hell of a nice sounding and very light combo due to the light weight of the RR1 and the Jensen Neo 15 speaker. I am very happy with the tone of this amp and I have enjoyed the experiment.
Rob

Lance, enjoy your holiday and 2nd honeymoon in HW. Glad to hear RR1 is still in production. I was on the list for 1st run but had to bail out due to life issues. As soon as some normalcy is returned I will be buying your new & upgraded model. This amp is a winner.
