Right on man. I hate to come across as Debby Downer, but I was pretty bummed that show turned out the way it did. Great improv jams, but just was a little looser than I expected my first Kimock show.

The guest drummer was apparently Billy Ward.

He wasn't a bad drummer, but sure wasn't Wally. No offense, but he sucked the chemistry away and clearly the set took an unexpected turn.

I apologize for bitching. The band was great and is making some killer music. You should definitely check this tour out.

Nah, it's fair. Especially if you've traveled a good way to see the actual band and things kinda take a detour. Of course detours are part of the SK experience... ...all in all, Billy did a better-than-you'd-expect version of picking up tunes cold, but still... ...it's Wally's gig, and Wally is just starting to have that telepathy with Steve.

And Billy kinda was guilty of pulling the houseguest-who-won't-leave routine.

At the two shows I've seen (last two nights), the Cripe has been sounding especially good.

Steve also broke out the '68 gold top Les Paul last night. Nice!

You know the story behind that guitar, don't you? That's literally the first guitar he ever played. Belonged to his cousin, who later sold it. His cousin called him earlier this year to say he learned that it was up for sale on eBay. Many dollars later, Steve ended up with it.

Yep, I visited Steve right after he'd gotten it back. He shared that story. Too cool!

Heard the group in DC Monday night. The renovated Howard Theatre - first opened in 1910, all the jazz greats played there in the day - been closed for years, really beautiful now.

My first SK show after years of wanting to catch him.

I loved it, he used the L7, the steel, the Strat/lipstick, and the "Explorer".

I really love an instrumental band, that's jamming.
