NGD: Fender MIJ 50's Reissue Stratocaster 1996

Made by Fender Japan in the year Fender celebrated its 50th anniversary (1946-1996) as a company, this Strat is a tribute to 50's models. The pickups have a beautiful sparkling tonality that is not harsh like some. The neck p/up is fat and crisp and playing Hendrix/SRV licks sounds authentic. The bridge is bright, but fat, and playing Hank Marvin tunes sent me back to another time. The guitar is finished in Shell Pink and has a soft 'V' neck. Aged parts, kluson tuners and a single ply scratchplate give the guitar a true 50's vibe. Although it is now 16 years old, it is in mint condition. A nice find!

Tom, I love Fender guitars and have four Strats, including an '04 Am. Deluxe, an '11 Am. Special and an 80's MIJ Squier Silver Series. This is the best sounding Strat of the lot. It has that true 'Fender' tone that we search for, and in my experience, few modern Fenders have 'it'.

^^^^^ Hey Class5...I know what you mean, again my Moniker here is derived from Tama Drums and my '74 Oly. white strat., That I truly miss. I have found another, it's a '03 that was "Hand Picked" by a Fender Rep. for a friend of mine who's a pretty well known player here in Mi. I just went through a couple of years dealing with Mr.C, and after kicking his Butt, I'm finding me getting to where I prefer Strat.'s (For comfort and feel) over all others. I had a REAL nice older G&L Legacy that I picked up from a local Blues player (lotta' vibe with that one) when I was going down physically with the Cancer (wasn't supposed to go into remission..Ha!..LOL) It was light and my Wife would bring it to me just to strum for a couple of minutes...But, when I was getting better..the neck and my hands was NOT getting along. In the past few months, I've been trying to replace some of my collection I sold to pay the Dr. bills...and I think I'm going to keep with the Strat. (or Strat.'s knowing me..LOL), I handed down a few of my 'git's when I got Ill, Kept a couple of Flat-tops..But, I've sold all of them off but one, and I'm going to sell my Tele. I just got (oop's, did I say that here on TGP), So, It's the yamaha LLX-16, my Gretsch...and all Strat.'s after that. I do like the "Good" ones too, Yeah, the MIA's are more consistant..But, I've played some FINE MIJ, MIM, and even MIK's....My new statement, Strat.'s, Strat.'s, nothing but Strat.'s....and again, Love that ti**y pink one of yours. Tom

Goddamn what a fine fine colour. Killer stuff.

I've always found it interesting how you can tell Japanese strats from about fifty paces by the colours of their knob and pickup plastics. They are all that colour. Strange.

Anyway, congrats. So jealous.
