VFE Pedals Epic Giveaway 2012 - 18 effects, 1 giant pedal

In case you don't know, we've been working on a 18-in-1 megapedal that we are giving away at the end of May. Here's the details:

- 18 VFE effects, including tap tempo delay
- 18 presets, programmable with just the footswitches!
- Switchable discrete input buffer, and switchable stacked op amp output buffer
- Master bypass footswitch
- One giant 20" x 11" enclosure with sloped panel for footswitches
- Sweet pedal-inspired racing theme graphic
- 168 total knobs, switches, and jacks
- Powered via 1spot 9V power supply (included, of course)

Also, there are inputs/outputs for every effect, with automatic signal routing when nothing is plugged in. This means you can:
- Use just one master input & one master output, no other cables needed
- Re-route the signal in any order using patch cables
- Connect other pedals in any part of the signal path (unfortunately, these won't have access to the programmable switching)
- Have multiple instrument/players use the same pedal, and create patches for different songs (or parts of songs) that switch on/off effects for everyone

The contest ends July 14, and you can follow the link below to enter. You don't need a Facebook account to enter, you can also click the "official rules" tab and look for the alternate entry form.

This thing is still coming together, and some things remain untested. This has been a huge experiment & project for me, and I've had a lot of help. I hope to have some actual pictures up in about two weeks, and if all goes "to plan", have a finished unit + demo up sometime in June.

Here is a picture of the programmable switching system. This board also contains the switchable input/output buffers, and tap tempo control circuits for the delay & possibly tremolo. Some parts of this are still untested, and I'm anxious to try them out! Still waiting on that enclosure...will put up pictures when it's finished.

Holy cow...

Is this gonna be a normal product after the contest or a one time build?

This isn't a product that I plan to sell. I guess I would only need to sell a few to make it worth the time, but I'd probably need to charge $2500-$3000 at least. This is a just a giveaway, and I'm using this project to simultaneously work on other ideas. So it's pretty much both an R&D and advertising cost for us. Plus it's just fun to build crazy stuff. The enclosure is here, will post pics when I get more stuff in it.

You have to hook it up to a car battery...

...and then keep the car running so it doesn't run down.

Here's a shot of the decal. My printer isn't great for this, so there are some color fade issues, but overall I think it looks pretty sweet.
